Max Chee

Max leads Aquiline Technology Growth (ATG) and is a partner of Aquiline Capital. He comes to the firm with 18 years of private equity and venture capital investing experience. Alongside his team, Max is investing ATG’s first fund, raised in 2017 and focused on the Insuretech/Fintech/Enterprise Software sectors. Prior to Aquiline, Max was a Managing Partner at Millennium Technology Value Partners, where he led more than 20 investments at all stages across consumer, enterprise and financial technology, from early growth to pre-IPO companies. Previously, he led technology growth investments for Mellon’s Private Equity Group and worked at Salomon Brothers in the Financial Institutions Group in New York and Corporate Finance in Hong Kong. Max serves on the Boards of Carpe Data as well as Super Home and has led Aquiline investments in BitPay and Hippo.

Max earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in Canada and Nyenrode University in the Netherlands, and later his M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Michael Cichowski

Michael joined Aquiline Technology Growth in 2016 and is a member of the investment committee. He has over twelve years of venture capital and growth equity investing experience focused on financial technology. Michael led investments in and serves on the Boards of Kryon Systems, FRISS, GAN Integrity and Utilant. Prior to Aquiline, he was most recently a Managing Director of a family office, where he led early- and growth-stage venture capital investments and the New York City office. Previously, he spent over seven years at Edison Partners, where he invested in financial technology companies across wealth management, capital markets, payments, banking and insurance. Earlier in his career, Michael held roles at Monitor Group, Merrill Lynch and a venture-backed startup.

Michael earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Rutgers University and his M.S. in Computer Science from the Fu Foundation School of Engineering at Columbia University.


Cole Riccardi        

Cole joined Aquiline Technology Growth in 2017.  Prior to joining Aquiline, he was with Credit Suisse, most recently as a Trading Analyst in the Equities Division, where he developed custom strategies and algorithm combinations for clients. He serves on the Board of BitPay.

Cole earned his B.A. in Finance from The Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.

Danté M. La Ruffa

Danté joined Aquiline Technology Growth in 2017. Prior to joining Aquiline, he was an account executive and solutions consultant with Managed Markets Insight & Technology where he partnered with financial institutions and management consulting firms to structure healthcare transparency solutions. He began his career as a property and casualty treaty analyst with Willis Re.   

Dante earned his B.S. in Business Administration, with a Finance Concentration, from the College of Charleston.

Catherine Escobar

Catherine joined Aquiline Technology Growth in 2016. Prior to joining, she worked with Long Island Mentor and Mentee, a Suffolk-based nonprofit organization where she focused on grant research, proposals and social media. 

Catherine earned her B.A. in Psychology, with a concentration in Business Administration, from Stony Brook University.




Michael Kalen

Mike is the former Chief Executive Officer of Simplicity Financial Distribution (formerly Futurity First Financial Corporation). Prior to joining Simplicity, he was a senior executive with Hartford Financial and Prudential Financial, leading several of their businesses, including President of Hartford Life's U.S. business, Chief Executive Officer of Hartford U.K., and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Prudential Preferred Financial Services.



Larry Wilson

Larry has decades of experience founding and operating insurance technology companies. Larry was founder and chief executive officer of Policy Management Systems Corporation (NYSE:PMS) and successfully built one of the largest insurance technology companies. PMS served nearly 70 percent of the world’s insurance companies in 30 countries and was acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation in 2001. Larry has been named one of the top three CEOs in the computer software and services industry by the The Wall Street Transcript on five separate occasions. He serves on numerous private-company and not-for-profit boards. Larry is a venture partner with FirstMark Capital (formerly Pequot Ventures), a New York-based firm. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.



Lord Lang of Monkton

Lord Lang was the independent chairman of the board directors of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (NYSE:MMC), chaired its Executive Committee, and served as a member of MMC’s Compensation Committee, Directors and Governance Committee
and Finance Committee. From 1979 to 1997, he served as a Member of the United Kingdom Parliament. He was then appointed to the House of Lords, where he serves as a life peer. Previously, he served in the Cabinet as president of the Board of Trade and Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and as Secretary of State for Scotland. He began his career as an insurance broker. Lord Lang was chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (United Kingdom) from 2009 to 2014 and of the House of Lords Constitution Committee from 2014 to 2017. He has also served as nonexecutive director at General Accident plc; CGU plc; The Automobile Association (United Kingdom); and other public companies.
